Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
A Path to Balance and Recovery
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment for individuals aged 14 through adulthood who are experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This therapy is used in virtual session to help individuals understand and address how traumatic experiences have impacted their views about themselves, others, and the world. Through virtual CPT sessions, individuals are guided to develop healthier, more balanced perspectives, ultimately reducing distress and promoting recovery.
CPT is effective not only in reducing PTSD symptoms but also in alleviating associated depression. For caregivers who undergo CPT, the benefits extend to the family unit: caregivers often experience reduced parenting stress, which in turn can lead to behavioral improvements in their children. Treatment typically involves 8–14 sessions, though the duration may vary depending on individual needs and progress.
